What Is The Order Of The Design Process?

Landscaping can be as involved or as simple as you like.  Each job is different based upon what already exists; what can stay, what must go. What can be moved or reused, what must be added. What would you like to see added, how quickly you want it to happen  and what is the budget.

Since this is a complicated and labor intensive project to undertake, it’s helpful to have a designer sort out the process.

Once you decide you want to move forward, I would meet with you to create a design and blueprint (see “How I Work”).  At that time we would discuss which of the following would apply to your project:
  • Repair, replace or remove existing (as needed);
  • Fences
  • House painting
  • Old patios, structures
  • Walkways
  • Planting / trees
  • Hardscaping installation (most expensive part);
  • Add soil to change grade (as needed)
  • Correct drainage issues
  • Run pipes for irrigation, wiring
  • Construct paved areas
  • Build structures
These are good summer projects.
They should be completed before any planting starts, if possible.

  • Plant Installation. This needs to happen in the fall or winter, optimally.  (Happens quickly)
  • Top Dress all planted / exposed areas with mulch.
